Abstract

This dissertation investigates the correlation between obesity and the increased susceptibility to developing Multiple Sclerosis (MS), addressing the critical issue of how excess body weight may influence the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying MS onset. Utilizing longitudinal health data, body mass index (BMI) measurements, and MS incidence rates, the study employs comprehensive statistical analyses, presented through graphs and charts, to elucidate the relationship between obesity and MS. The findings reveal a significant association, indicating that individuals with higher BMI exhibit an increased risk of developing MS, suggesting that obesity may contribute to inflammatory processes and metabolic dysregulation that precipitate the disease. These results underscore the importance of addressing obesity as a modifiable risk factor in the prevention and management of MS, highlighting a need for healthcare initiatives focused on weight management and lifestyle interventions. The implications extend beyond individual health, as they prompt a reevaluation of public health strategies aimed at reducing obesity prevalence, thereby potentially decreasing MS incidence rates in at-risk populations. This research contributes to a growing body of literature linking obesity with neurological health conditions, advocating for integrated approaches to disease prevention that encompass both physical and mental well-being. Overall, the study emphasizes the necessity of interdisciplinary collaboration in healthcare to address the multifaceted challenges posed by obesity and its associated risks.
