Abstract
This dissertation explores the relationship between variations in the gut microbiome and nutrient absorption in humans, aiming to identify specific microbial populations and their metabolic functions that contribute either to enhanced or impaired nutrient uptake. Utilizing advanced sequencing technologies, gut microbiome profiles were collected and analyzed along with biochemical assessments of nutrient absorption from a diverse group of participants. The findings reveal a significant correlation between certain microbial communities, particularly those enriched in fiber-degrading bacteria, and improved absorption of key nutrients such as vitamins and minerals. Conversely, the presence of pathogenic or dysbiotic microbiota was linked to reduced nutrient uptake and subsequent health complications, emphasizing the crucial role of gut microbial diversity in nutritional status. These results underscore the importance of personalized dietary recommendations and potential therapeutic interventions targeting the microbiome to optimize nutrient absorption and address related health issues. By elucidating the dynamic interplay between the gut microbiome and nutrient assimilation, this study contributes valuable insights to the fields of nutrition and microbiome research, with implications for developing strategies aimed at preventing and managing dietary deficiencies and related diseases. This research not only fills a critical gap in understanding gut health but also paves the way for future investigations into the microbiome's role in holistic healthcare.
