Abstract

Background: Piriformis syndrome is a neuromuscular condition that causes buttock pain from the sciatic nerve being compressed by the piriformis muscle. With postural adjustments, Bruegger's exercise improves lumbar flexibility and lowers muscle tension, potentially easing piriformis compression. While piriformis muscle stress is decreased, better pelvic alignment is promoted by lumbar stabilization exercises, which work to strengthen core muscles.  Both exercises offer non-invasive and efficient treatments for piriformis syndrome since they have the potential to reduce symptoms and improve general function in people with the illness.

Materials and Methods:  The purpose of the study was to find out how Bruegger's exercise and Lumbar stabilization exercise Programme affected piriformis syndrome sufferers. For a 4-week intervention, participants were randomly allocated to one of two workout groups. Pre- and post-intervention outcome indicators, such as pain levels and functional capacity, were evaluated. To ascertain the importance of the exercises' effect on the treatment of piriformis syndrome, statistical analysis was done.

Results: The findings of the study indicate that there is a significant difference in the results obtained by both Groups before and after the intervention. Pain, functions in daily living, muscle strength were all significantly improved in Group 1 subjects compared to Group 2.

Conclusion: According to the results of our study, there was a discernible gap between the ratings both groups had given before to and after the completion of the intervention. When compared to Group 2 (Conventional Physiotherapy), the effects of Group 1 (Bruegger exercise programme) are much greater. In order to ensure that the Bruegger and lumbar stabilization exercise for piriformis syndrome is more successful.
