Abstract

Background and Purpose: Commonly, plantar fasciitis creates stabbing pain that typically comes with the first morning step. Normally, the discomfort reduces when the body rises and begins to move, although it may increase after lengthy periods of standing or while rising from a seated position. The purpose of this research is to examine the effectiveness of manual therapy and ultrasound therapy in the treatment of plantar fasciitis.

Materials & Methods: A total number of 60 patients was divided into 2 groups out of which group A (30 subjects) was provided by manual therapy only and another group i.e., group B (30 subjects) was provided with ultrasound therapy and exercise, and the result was comparing the efficacy of manual therapy in treatment of PF. GROUP-A (Manual Therapy): Stretching with Passive Movements.4 days a week till 4 weeks. Group B (Ultrasound Therapy): 3MHz for the duration of 5 mins with Stretching with Passive Movements. 4 days a week till 4 weeks. Assessments was done using Goniometer for Rang of Motion and VAS for Pain

Results: The results of the study shows that the pre score of Group A VAS was 7.80±0.54 and Post score was 6.78±0.786. Group B VAS pre was 7.23±0.65 and Post was 2.98±1.03. The Range of motion of Group A pre was 8.62±2.738 for Dorsiflexion and 21.72±3.72 for Plantarflexion which changed to 10.82±2.82 and 28.72±1.23 respectively. The Range of motion of Group B pre was 9.72±2.810 for Dorsiflexion and 20.72±2.78 for Plantarflexion which changed to 18.92±1.929 and 37.83±1.83 respectively. There was significant difference seen in both the Groups Range of Motion and Higher effects were in Therapeutic Ultrasound subjects. There was no significant difference in the VAS scores if Group A.

Conclusion: According to the findings of the research, we are able to draw the conclusion that both interventions had a substantial impact; however, there was more effects seen in the Therapeutic Ultrasound with Stretching and Compared with Only stretching. No effects can be seen on pain with stretching as ultrasound has significant effects on pain of the subjects.
