Abstract
This study evaluated the diagnostic accuracy and agreement of point-of-care testing (POCT) for cardiac biomarkers—Troponin, CK-MB, and BNP/NT-proBNP—compared to standard laboratory methods in 203 patients with cardiac symptoms. POCT showed near-perfect correlation with lab results for Troponin (r = 0.999) and CK-MB (r = 0.989), with minimal measurement bias and consistent performance across devices and genders. While overall diagnostic accuracy was high (91%) and specificity reached 100%, sensitivity was moderate (54%), indicating POCT should complement, not replace, comprehensive clinical assessment. These findings support POCT’s role in fast-paced clinical settings, while highlighting the need for cautious interpretation and further validation..
